Gorbachov – The music Video

I did this video for a Russian Metal Band called ANJ. It is pretty crazy. When I saw the lyrics it seemed to be an earnest tribute to Mikael Gorbachov (that’s how the Russians spell it), so I was a bit confounded about what the video concept should be, but then I had a brainstorm to take it way over the top and I think it was just the thing. Suffice to say it’s half Russian History allegory as told through an old zombie movie made in the Soviet Union, and half animated Soviet Propaganda posters. It’s in HD, so let it load a bit before you play it and then click the little “four arrows” symbol on the lower right part of the viewer to see it in true HD. BTW- the band has asked that I include their myspace address: myspace.com/anjkill

Motorola sues former employee turned Apple exec for ganking trade secrets

http://www.engadget.com/media/2008/06/6-23-08-moto.jpg

It’s hard enough for Motorola’s handset division to go about its business these days without losing talent, but losing executives to Apple’s iPhone team? That’s just a straight-up slap in the face, and Moto’s not gonna take it lying down. The We Generation has filed suit against Michael Fenger, the dude running its handset business for the EMEA market for six years until March this year, when he quit to take up a posh job as Apple’s veep of global iPhone sales. That isn’t a problem in itself — businessfolk switch teams all the time — but it seems Mr. Fenger had an agreement in place not to work for a competitor inside of two years following his departure.

Moto claims he “was privy to the pricing, margins, customer initiatives, allocation of resources, product development, multiyear product, business and talent planning and strategies being used by Motorola” (not to say that data’s worth much more than the paper it’s written on these days) and wants over a million bucks back plus a court order banning him from working for Cupertino for those promised two years retroactively to March 31; non-compete clauses generally aren’t valid in California, but since this one was executed in Illinois and the case is filed in Chicago, they’ve got a shot here. Note to current execs still out there in Schaumburg: better start righting that ship you’re on, because you ain’t getting on a more buoyant one without a fight.

9 Facts That You Might Not Know About the Statue of Liberty

http://www.destination360.com/north-america/us/new-york/images/s/new-york-statue-of-liberty.jpg

The first face that many late 19th and early 20th century immigrants to the United States saw upon entering her waters was that of the Statue of Liberty. Her solemn eyes and iconic countenance promises the hope of a new life for those leaving one of despair. As America welcomed the tired, the poor, and the huddled masses, our Lady Liberty, graciously given by the French over 120 years ago, has raised her torch as a beacon of hope for those New York bound passengers.

Formally called Liberty Enlightening the World, this world-renown statue has been a symbol of freedom throughout the world. And for millions of immigrants, she represented their new home, one filled with possibilities and yet, at the same time, fraught with anxiety. Many came penniless, or nearly so, hungry, and beaten down, longing for change and hoping upon hope that their tomorrows in this new land would outshine their yesterdays.
