Apple iPod Touch : Apple’s new iPod just like iPhone !

The new flagship iPod has “the same size screen as the iPhone, but it’s even thinner” (eight-millimeters, for those taking notes), and it also touts the “same multi-touch interface” found on the firm’s handset. Additionally, it boasts a 3.5-inch widescreen display, the ability to “flick through your photos,” and you even get the “slide to unlock” feature, too. And yes, this thing actually has WiFi. Of note, the built-in wireless antenna isn’t exactly attractive, but if it means that we can surf the web (YouTube included) and buy tunes on our iPod, we suppose it may be an acceptable flaw. As for battery life, the Touch is said to last 22-hours when playing back audio and 5-hours when watching video, but only time will tell how draining web surfing will be. The iPod Touch will be arriving in 8GB and 16GB flavors and will be priced at $299 and $399, respectively, when they ship “worldwide in a few weeks.”

The two planes careered into each other in mid air with devastating consequences – the aicrcraft were completely blown apart by the force of the collsion.
Debris was blasted across the sky as smoke billowed from the cockpits.

Canon

This is one of the greatest hits in the classical world which was composed in the 1680’s by Johann Pachelbel. Original song is performed by the Slovak Chamber Orchestra and you can listen it here – link. What you can hear in the next moments is the “new age” version performed by guitar.

I wonder why is this video so important:

Ants! – An Incredible Documentary

<

The structure covers 538 square feet and travels 26 feet into the earth. In it’s construction, the colony moved 40 tons of soil. Billions of ant loads of soil were brought to the surface. Each load weighed four times as much as the worker ant, and in human terms, was carried over 1/2 mile to the surface. It is the equivalent of building the great wall of china. It is truly a wonder of the world…

This is the best segment of a documentary called Ants! Nature’s Secret Power. This film is full of incredible stuff. Here are some notable examples:

* Indonesian ants have domesticated mealy bugs and feed on sugar and vitamin rich honey dew excreted by the mealy bugs. The ants are nomadic, periodically moving their mealy bug herds to new plants for fresh grazing.
* When a colony is disturbed, scout ants spread out looking for a new site. The site is selected by a form of democracy. Individual ants vote by leaving pheromone trails to preferred sites. At the end of voting, the site with the strongest pheromone trail is used.
* Grass cutter ants use relay teams to transport food. Each team covers a set distance and hands it over to the next team.
* Wood ants harvest tree resin to use as an antibiotic and fungicide.
* Grass cutter ants cultivate underground fungus gardens. They build gravity ventilation systems to maintain desired temperature, humidity and CO2 levels.

My favorite part is toward the end. They fill a grass cutter ant hill with concrete. After it dries they excavate the site revealing the underground ant architecture:
