We came down to South Africa for the Cape Argus Tour. It is the biggest cycling event in the world, probably.
On Friday, to stretch out the legs we went on pre-race ride [~130km why not?] to the Cape of Good Hope [I love this name!]. The road by the ocean side was quiet and a lille deserted.
Suddenly, I spotted a white ostrich on my left, then this beast jumped on the road from the right and started chasing my friends! It was a little scary at first, but then I thought I gonna fell of my bike from laughter. The ostrich didn’t have any problem to keep up at 50km/h and apparently they do 70km/h with no sweat.
Luckily the creature decided to leave us alone, as we were running out of road. The Cape of Good hope is a dead end way.

Statistica proprie: aproape 80% din biciclisti nu stiu ca atunci cand traverseaza strada pe trecerea de pietoni, trebuie sa o faca pe langa bicicleta, nu pe ea si nu in viteza. Esti cu bicicleta si sa presupunem ca circuli (ilegal) pe trotuar si deodata te gandesti sa traversezi pe trecerea de pietoni in timp ce o masina vireaza la dreapta. Iti garantez ca aceasta intra in tine. Ghinionul tau, ai facut o infractiune si acum platesti. Soferii se asteapta sa vada pietoni pe trecerile de pietoni, dar un biciclist merge de pana la cinci ori mai repede decat un pieton, asa ca este lesne de inteles ce lipsit de reactie va fi soferul odata ce i-ati “sarit” in fata.

Situatia de mai sus o intalnesc foarte des in trafic (ca sofer) si de fiecare data dau de bicilisti ce trec senini pe trecere, calare pe biciclete si isi imagineaza ca ceea ce fac este perfect legal. Insa nu este asa, voi cita din “Regulamentul pentru aplicarea Ordonantei de urgenta privind circulatia pe drumurile publice nr 195/2002 – valabil din 01 dec.2006”, unde in articolul 161, litera o) zice asa:

Se interzice conducatorilor de biciclete sau de mopede: sa traverseze drumurile publice, pe trecerile destinate pietonilor, in timp ce se deplaseaza pe bicicleta sau pe moped.

E clar, nu? Pentru a exemplifica si aduce argumente in plus la aceasta regula, va invit sa urmariti compilatia de mai jos.

Si ma refer aici la spectatori, tot felul de maimutoi “galopeaza” pe langa concurenti si din moment ce sunt enervanti, din cand in cand isi mai iau cate un pumn in nas de la alti spectatori sau chiar de la biciclisti.

Nu acuzati biciclistul de violenta in trafic. Daca va uitati la inceputul clipului se vede cum taxime-TRISTU intra pe banda a 2-afara a se asigura (chiar a avut loc si o “ciocnire” intre acestia). Din pacate nu era pornita si inregistrarea audio.Pe motocicleta de obicei inregistraza decat vantu’.

O zi normala din traficul bucurestean, o zi din care nu trebuie sa lipseasca  schimbul civilizat de flegme, injuraturi sau pumni. 🙂

Sunt sigur ca oricare dintre noi ar putea fi in stare de asa ceva daca ar avea o bicicleta de carbon in valoare de 10.000 de lire sterline.

Problema cu motociclistii in trafic o stiti, acestia se plang mereu ca sunt ignorati de majoritatea soferilor si pe buna dreptate. Dar ce sa mai zicem de biciclisti? Ca veni vorba, (traiasca campaniile electorale) pe Bulevardul Iuliu Maniu din Brasov – pana pe la Parcul Central – a aparut zilele astea o frumoasa si colorata banda pentru biciclisti. Frumos gest, sunt curios cat de rapid se vor obisnui brasovenii cu aceasta banda speciala si cati vor reusi sa nu o calce. 🙂

Dog guards owner’s bike from being stolen

In imaginile urmatoare putem observa un caine devotat stapanului sau. Sau cel putin asa pare, eu cred totusi ca acest caine este atat de indragostit de bicicleta aia incat crede ca-i a lui. De ce zic asta… pai uitati-va cat de bucuros este sa-si ia in primire locul din spate atunci cand aceasta se pune in miscare. 🙂
